‘The Raja Saab’ Box Office Slump: Collections Continue to Decline
The Raja Saab is an over-rated film of Prabhas whose performance at the Indian box office is experiencing a very sharp decline. By the 5th day, this movie has been estimated to have earned about 4.85 crore in all languages and this adds up to almost Rs 119.45 crore. The film began with a small opening weekend and has since been marked with a steady decline, the decline after Sunday, being especially sharp.
The occupancy numbers reflect this negativity trend. The occupancy of Telugu shows on Tuesday was only slightly above 21 percent and the Hindi version and Tamil version performed worse in both morning, afternoon, evening and night shows. This is in spite of an ensemble cast which included Prabhas, Sanjay Dutt, Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, Boman Irani among others.
Social media and review sites have not received a warm reception by the audience. Numerous audiences have condemned the murky plot, the slow plot, the unnaturalistic romance, and poor acting, as well as technical flaws of stilted face-swap shots and fake acting. Some of the shows, such as Zarina Wahab, have been welcomed with appreciation yet the general negative word of mouth is turning out to be a tremendous setback against the box office success of the film.
